A4 Tech “Bloody” Series V7 Review

Thanks to my friends over at A-4 Tech, I got a chance over the past month or so to game with one of their V7 units, and I love it. For an economic gaming mouse, the Bloody series unit can’t be beat: The Bloody V7 “Headshot”

Taiwanese company A-4 Tech’s “Bloody” Series MultiCore Gaming Mouse

The mouse comes in a black and red package showcasing the sleek yet edgy design of the mouse, with light up bloody palm where your palm rests. It sports adjustable CPI (mine goes 400 -> 1600), which is great for fine tuning mouse sensitivity for your favorite games (I crank it up for League of Legends, but tone it back a bit for FPS games where precise aiming is more critical than absolute lightning reflexes), as well as light color adjustments for personalizing your mouse. To adjust CPI, simply click the reversed “N” button (one of three center buttons between the left and right mouse) twice to enable adjustment mode. Then, roll the wheel up or down to change. Of course, the software (included with the mouse) must be installed and running. This is the first of three cores included in the mouse–the one for surfing the web, graphic design, or for non-FPS gaming (World of Warcraft, League of Legends, etc). The second enables functionality of the three center buttons (1, N, and 3). The unit also features a “hole less” design, allowing use of the unit on a wider variety of surfaces than your typical optical mouse.

Speaking of software, the Bloody series units have some advanced features in them to assist our FPS community in securing easy kills–software compensation or fire mode changing features–part of the third core of the unit (unlockable within the software for an additional $20). Using the 1, N, and 3 buttons on the mouse, when calibrated in the software, you can change firing modes from single shot to burst shot or full auto. Now, granted, this won’t change the code of the game you’re playing to make that D. Eagle shoot like an Uzi, but instead of rapidly clicking like a maniac, you can now hold your mouse button down and free up your concentration on precision and aiming. Nifty, although I’d recommend against using such a feature in competitive or tournament play…

3 modes of murder/genocide

The real controversial issue in regards to this software is the recoil compensation feature and programmable compensation. With the third core unlocked, you can literally turn a fully automatic weapon in a shooter into a death spreader with no recoil or kickback–allowing you to mow your opponents down ruthlessly. The controversy is limited to competitive and tournament play–extremely accurate spread patterns can be noticed in tournaments and servers with anti-hack code running, getting you banned or dropped from the tournament/league. Be forewarned–use them in single player only, or risk the consequences.

Overall, the mouse itself is light, moves quickly across your mousepad, and is comfortable enough for extended gaming sessions. The longest I’ve used mine was about 8 hours straight (League session from 10pm to about 6am), and my hand never cramps or twitches. With solid response rate and extreme comfort, the Headshot V7 is ideal for anyone looking to get a gaming mouse on a budget ($39 on Amazon below) and cannot afford to invest in Razer equipment (often times $80+). Even with core three enabled and a tag of $60, you still save in the long run.

Thanks again to my friends at A4 for getting me setup with one of these! You can pick one up below for the lowest price I’m seeing on the web currently ($39).

    • Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been really busy with my new rig. Did they ever get back to you? I run Windows 8.1 on both systems and had no problems with the software. I’ll check when I get home ans see if I can get it and Dropbox it to you or something.
